RULES AND COMPETITION FORMAT

This is a single elimination system, which adheres to the official International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation rules. Please visit the following websites for information on the complete rules.[http://ibjjf.org/rules.htm (English) orwww.cbjj.com.br/regras.htm (Portuguese)] A competitor can win a match by submission, points, advantage or referee's decision.

FGC will not tolerate any unsportsman-like conduct. Any disrespectful behavior will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises of the athlete, with no refund of the registration fee.

No Stalling: Referee will issue one negative point for the 1st offense of stalling (i.e. backing out of the guard without engaging, no activity, and running out of the ring to avoid takedown or submission attempts). A 2nd offense will result in a 2 Points deduction. A 3rd offense will result in a disqualification.

Hygiene: All competitors will be checked for communicable disease, not limited but including ring-worm, staph and herpes.

Scoring System

Throws and/or Takedowns 2 points
Knee on stomach 2 points
Top mount position 4 points
Changing position (Guard or Half-Guard to top) 2 points
Passing the guard 3 points
Control from the back (Back Mount and/or Back Grab) 4 points
Advantage is determined by aggressiveness, submission attempts, takedown attempts and superior positioning.

Medals will be awarded to athletes achieving first, second, and third place in each division.

Illegal Techniques in all divisions

· NO heel hooks or twisting knee locks of any kind
· NO striking of any kind
· NO biting, hair pulling or eye-gauging
· NO slamming of any kind 
· NO cervical neck cranks of any kind

Please Note

· Weigh-ins will take place on the mat before each competitor's first match. Each competitor gets only one opportunity to weigh-in, so please make sure you have signed up for the right division, or risk disqualification. 
· Any athlete who fails to appear when called to compete will forfeit the match
· Any competitor running from a fight will be docked one point. If the behavior continues, he or she may be disqualified.
· Any competitor attempting to escape a submission by going out-of-bounds will be disqualified.
· The promoters of the FGC will not tolerate any unsportsman-like conduct. Any disrespectful behavior will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises of the athlete, with no refund of the registration fee. 

Disclaimer: The promoters are not liable for any injury and / or accident involving the competitors. The event is properly insured. Medical staff will be on the premises to provide First-Aid as needed.

DIVISIONS AND WEIGHT CLASSES - NO GI

This is a single elimination tournament. Divisions or weight classes are subject to change. FL Grappling Challenge doesn't offer refunds.

EXPERIENCE Description
Class B Under 1 year training
Class A Over 1 year training

Rules are very similar do the BJJ Division. The exception of:

  • B Class - Straight Foot locks only, no biceps and calf locks allowed.
  • A Class - Straight Foot locks, knee bars, wristlocks, biceps and calf lock are allowed.

Scissors Takedowns, Neck Cranks, Slamming, Heel Hooks and or, toeholds are NOT allowed in either class.

All Divisions Mandatory Uniform Requirements: Rash Guard and Board Shorts. No exceptions.

All athletes must weigh in with the complete uniform (the weight list already includes the extra weight for the uniform)

 The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedule. The athlete only can enter in the fighting area when is called by the official. In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight. 
No coaching is allowed in the fighting area.

The brackets will be released before the tournament. No changes will be made and no refunds will be given, after the brackets are posted. Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send e-mail to kuntz@martialartsadvantage.com.

Before each match, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it on hand.
